Evan + Melissa | wedding
The fact I woke up this morning to the chilly air and eerie fog has made me realize that, reluctantly, summer has definitely come to a close. Which also means that I am so far behind with blogging all the beautiful moments I got to witness this summer. What better way to get back into routine than to start it off with Melissa and Evan's beautiful Winnipeg wedding!
In the weeks leading up to this wedding, we kept watching the forecast and just praying that it was going keep changing. It kept fluctuating between sunny days and dark, cloudy days on the weather radar, and then suddenly the morning approached and we were all holding our breath. And it was rainy. So very rainy. There was no sun in sight on that day, until it started peeking through the clouds and teasing us every few moments during the morning hustle routine of makeup and attire. And yet it still wasn't enough to be able to carry out the ceremony that they had dreamed of having outside at the golf course. Melissa and Evan both had the best perspective, that no matter what happened on that day, they were getting married and there was nothing that could stop that from happening.
We raced through pelting rain on golf carts through the muddy course getting these gorgeous shots and it was worth every moment! The laughter drowned out the thunder, so I'd call that a win.
It was a joy, and an honor, and a privilege to be there. Not just because we love to photograph weddings, but because we also love to photograph weddings that are for people that we already had in our lives. Melissa and Evan are family of ours not by blood, but by choice and we made the journey out to be able to celebrate them and the commitment they were making to each other.
The vibe that overcame that day was one of joy and excitement that overshadowed every ounce of gloomy weather! Everybody present in that room was cheering them on, and still is. It was an honor to be able to be a witness to even a glimpse of their love for each other. We are so excited to see where this adventure takes them. Marriage is both the hardest and most rewarding thing two people could ever do together, and Melissa and Evan have already been through a lot as a couple which has set the foundation for a marriage built to thrive.
May you find that no rainy seasons ever have the power to overtake the joy of your lives together.
